Looking for a creative, hands-on project to spark your child’s imagination? This DIY cardboard London bus is perfect for imaginative play or just a rainy afternoon.

What You’ll Need:
1 medium or large cardboard box
Pink paint (acrylic)
Black marker pen
Glue
Scissors or a craft knife (adult supervision required)
Decorative stickers or gems (optional)
Scrap cardboard pieces for wheels & sign
pencil
Instructions:
Step 1: Prep Your Box
Choose a sturdy cardboard box that stands vertically. This will become your bus body. Tape the flaps closed if needed, and make sure it stands firmly on a flat surface.
Step 2: Cut Out Windows
Using a pencil, draw windows on the side of the box (two rows for the double-decker look). Carefully cut out the window shapes using scissors or a craft knife.
Step 3: Paint the Bus
Paint the entire outside of the box with pink paint. Let it dry completely. You might need 2 coats for a vibrant finish.
Step 4: Add the Wheels
Cut out 2 circles from some scrap cardboard pieces. Colour them black to make the wheels. Decorate the centers with colourful gems, then glue the wheels onto the bus.
Step 5: Create the Bus Route Sign
Cut a small rectangle from some scrap cardboard and write the route number and destination using a black marker (e.g., “London Bridge – 43”). Glue it to the front of the bus.
